A study was conducted on the natural juices derived from apples and purple grapes and found that these juices as well as the fruits themselves were natural agents to help prevent clogged arteries. In our society today it is more than easy to clog your arteries without even realizing it through fast food and conveniences we take for granted. With this in mind it can be beneficial to stop and consider your health throughout the day when you choose a bag of potato chips for lunch or not to eat breakfast at all. These are choices that can damage your health and further promote the clogging of your arteries that can lead to heart disease and strokes.

The researchers within this study fed hamsters fruit and their juices in collaboration with a fatty diet. The animals within the study, which were fed the grape juice, were found to have the lowest risk of artery related problems. The benefits of purple grapes and grape juice can be attributed to the high levels of phenols, which is a very strong antioxidant. You have more than likely already heard the term antioxidant before as there are many different fruits and foods today, which are high in antioxidants and therefore beneficial for your heart health. This study is different from the rest with the intent to study the effects of juicing the fruit and the remaining phenols levels.

The animals within the test were given the amount of fruit and juices that should be consumed by a person weighing 154lbs. This equals 3 apples or 3 bunches of grapes as well as the equivalent amount of juice. The control group of hamsters were given water. The animals receiving the fruit and natural juices received three different health benefits; lower cholesterol, less oxidative stress and less fat accumulating within their aorta.

This study is not advocating the high in fat diets many of us are utilizing today, it is only meant to show you through research and scientific facts that prescription medications are not the only answer to this common health problem.
