The common belief and misconception is that when you turn on the tap water to fill your glass or cook a meal you are getting nothing less than clean and safe drinking water. Unfortunately for many people throughout the USA today this is not the case. Contrary to popular belief it does not make a difference where the water originates from, the main problem with tap water today is the travelling from the source to your individual tap. Along the way the water is often vulnerable to different impurities and chemicals, which can be harmful to the body. For many people this is quite an eye opener and information that should be taken seriously.

Some of the chemicals and impurities that can be found in your tap water today include:

  • Radon

  • Fluoride

  • Arsenic

  • Iron

  • Lead

  • Copper

  • Fertilizers

  • Cyanides

  • Herbicide

  • Pesticides

Many of the chemicals within this list have been linked in one way or another to cancer and other life threatening conditions over the years and this should be noted. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the USA today have stated that almost 100,000,000 people are reported sick from water borne bacteria each and every year. From within these statistics 900 people die from drinking contaminated water from within their own home. The problem with tap water is that each of the chemicals and minerals found within are each at the allowable levels, which means the water purifiers do not have to do anything to alter their processes. What creates the contamination is the combination of all the different chemicals and heavy metals put together.

One of the greatest concerns in regards to tap water today is the inclusion of Chlorine, which has been added for many years now. The goal of adding Chlorine is to kill any bacteria within the water but human exposure to this chemical can be more dangerous than the bacteria itself in many cases. The levels of Chlorine in our drinking water today is often far too high and because of this the Environmental Protection Agency of the USA is working to reduce the use of Chlorine to clean our water.

Since the creation of bottled water and water dispensers, many people only use their tap water for cooking and therefore the bacteria is eliminated through the boiling process. With this being said, many people neglect to even think about the safety of their tap water. Just because the water flows directly to your home does not mean it is safe to drink and cannot negatively affect your health. A high quality water filtration system is worth its weight in gold. Be sure to conduct your own due diligence prior to purchasing a water filtration system.
