Superfoods - Superfoods 2007
Written by Frank Mangano

What exactly are superfoods anyway? That's a great question! And the answer is as follows...

Superfoods are foods that deliver outstanding nutritional value. Superfoods are foods that are in their natural state, which is the way nature intended them to be. Superfoods aren't processed or refined and they are essential in preventing and combating disease. Some examples of superfoods are:

Vegetables including broccoli, cauliflower, tomatotoes, sprouts and peppers to name a few all provide powerful phytochemicals that fight disease.

Lentils provide a high amount of nutrients and are low on the glycemic index. Lentils also contain an adequate amount of soluble fiber, which helps keep LDL (bad) cholesterol in check.

Wheat Grass is rich in chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals, all of which are necessary to maintain proper health.

Chlorella and Spirulina (My two personal favorite) are a very powerful combination of phytonutrients that work together in assisting the body to heal itself.

Flax Seeds are high in Omega-3 essential fatty acids as well as potassium, magnesium and fiber.

Keep in mind that this is a tiny list of superfoods. There are many more that exist. A daily intake of the above is optimal and a very easy way of doing this is by supplementing with a whole foods formula.

That's where the “Super Green Formula” by Garden of Life comes in. This disease-fighting formula (as I like to call it) contains unprocessed whole foods that are in their natural state. No synthetic sources here just pure nutrition that your body requires to maintain an optimal level of health. It's 100% vegetarian and contains 46 phytonutrient-dense superfoods, 13 sprouted ingredients and even 10 strains of probiotics.

Now I do want to say that this may be an acquired taste for you. It even was for me. It wasn't one of my favorite drinks to guzzle down when I first tried it but the nutrition was the most important factor. Needless to say the taste continued to grow on me and now I consider it to be absolutely delicious. You can even start with a half scoop and gradually work your way up to 1 scoop per day. You can also choose the capsule form although I recommend the powder form.

I personally consume a heaping scoop of this formula in the morning upon awakening as part of my daily regimen listed here. I'm actually enjoying it now as I write this article. I highly recommend it to those who are looking to safeguard their health.

I assure you that I have no financial ties with Garden of Life, the company who produces this wonderful product. They probably aren't even aware I'm publishing this information. I'm doing so because it's my job as a consumer health advocate to provide you with the tools you need to stay healthy and fight disease the all-natural way!

* Important notes: It is recommended that you seek the advice of a qualified healthcare practitioner prior to using any alternative therapies. Any recommended doses are for those over age 18. Always check herb and vitamin use with your child’s health care practitioner prior to administering them.
