Summer is finally here. You can’t wait to get out and just have fun! But before you do that, take a few minutes to read through these very important tips. While summer is mostly associated with outdoor fun, too much sun exposure and the heat that it brings can actually spoil things for you. Too much sweating can deplete you of your body fluids and can then deprive you of your much needed energy. So how do you enjoy the sun while protecting your body from its harmful side effects? The following tips can naturally help you beat the summer heat. Just follow these easy tips and then you’re good to go.

  • Wear light clothing

Yes. In this context - less is more, definitely. Common sense will tell us that if we want to breathe easier in the warmest season of the year, we should wear something light. Ditch those heavy fabrics – now is the perfect time to clean out your closet. Wear clothing that you are comfortable with as much as possible, it would really make a difference on how you work through the day. So go for loose clothes since tight fitting clothes limits you. Avoid wearing dark clothing when the sun shines at its peak since it tends to make you feel warmer – which is the exact opposite of what you want. Wear clothing that is made from cotton since it is light and breezy. Change the covers of your bed to a lighter feel. Take out those comforters and bring in those cotton sheets. And when you’re indoors, wear short sleeves or sleeveless tops and short pants. This will really help you feel less warm in the hot days.

  • Eat more fruits and vegetables

You must keep yourself healthy and fit in the summer heat. During the warmest, it is important that you always remind yourself to eat right. Most people tend to lose their appetite and try to eat food with empty calories.  It is not enough that you simply quench your thirst just to fight off the heat. You can’t just drown yourself in tons of fluids; you must also take in foods that are nutritious.

One of the vital elements in your daily menu is a healthy portion of fruits and vegetables. This is also a great time to eat fruits since there are some fruits that are abundant in the summer and you rarely see during the other seasons. Not only do you enjoy eating a fruit, you are also keeping yourself healthy. Aside from eating fruits, vegetables are just as important. Stack up with those fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamin C to boost the immune system during the summer. Tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, asparagus, oranges and melons are just a few on the list. You can also try salads and cold soups since it has a way of cooling the body and besides it makes you feel light. Just try to avoid fruits and vegetables that were inorganically grown since these types of foods contain pesticides which are harmful to the body when ingested. Remember, what you eat will reflect outside. So keep eating healthy. In addition, you should also try to avoid processed foods which are high in preservatives, junk foods, red meat and foods that are high in fat and those that are deep fried.

  • Drink lots of water

Water hydrates the skin. You may want to keep yourself hydrated since the warmest weather makes you feel dry which doesn’t do any good to you and your body. Drink something or anything just to cool your body down but don’t wait to drink fluids when you’re thirsty – drink when you can, as much as you can, because during summer, you are sweating more than you normally do. This will help your body remain hydrated and prevent dehydration. The recommended intake of fluids is 8-10 glasses – but when the weather is not as cozy as you think, drink a bit more.

You can drink fruit juices: take out the juicer and whip up your favorite orange juice or lemonade. Avoid carbonated and caffeinated drinks and beverages with high sugars and preservatives since these dehydrate the cells in your body which negates your purpose of hydrating your system. Because you are drinking plenty of water, expect that you will be visiting the rest room more often than you usually do and this is just normal. Keeping yourself hydrated also protects you by eliminating toxins in your body – leaving you feeling clean inside and out.

  • Take extra care of your skin

The skin also needs the extra attention from you. The heat of the sun during the summer is harmful to your skin because of the UV rays it projects. It makes your skin dry and looking dull. So the best option you can do to enjoy the sunshine is to protect your skin. Wear protective clothing such as a wide brimmed hat or use an umbrella for total protection instead. You may want to feel beautiful outside as much as you feel beautiful on the inside.

  • Exercise

You may be wondering why, even in the heat of the summer, some people engage in activities and keep on exercising. Summer heat shouldn’t stop you from keeping your body healthy and fit. Besides, during the summer, it’s time to flaunt what you got and strut it. What better way to express yourself than by being healthy and showing it while enjoying the summer season? You can do swimming in the beach or in the pool which is a good exercise and helps you tone those gorgeous muscles or you can also do surfing or canoeing. If you’re not into outdoor activities you can also spend some quality time at the gym, or do yoga and meditation to clear the mind and which helps you naturally keep on your track, keeping you well balanced.

With these tips, you can now enjoy the sun without feeling any setback – healthy and naturally; this way you can avoid that summer heat problems and be always on the go.
