Barbara Davies, a Natural Health On The Web newsletter subscriber asks:

Please could you tell me what vitamins and supplements I can use for Parkinson's Disease? I do not want to go onto prescribed drugs.

Thank you for your question, Barbara. Parkinson’s disease is quickly becoming a more and better known disease as it becomes more recognized throughout the world. Although many people think this is a disease of old age, on the contrary this is a disease which takes years or perhaps even decades to develop the severe symptoms which are noticed today. This chronic degenerative nerve disease is one that may be associated with several others but today has many of its own symptoms to stand alone
Parkinson’s is an awful disease which effects only certain areas of the brain, many times leaving its sufferers feeling more than aware of their incapability’s and what is happening to their bodies. For some people this is the worst part of Parkinson’s. There are many different prescription drugs which Parkinson’s patients are required to take for the rest of their lives and many of these drugs offer a long list of deadly side effects. Of course many times Parkinson’s is not the only disease a person has their list of medications no doubt intertwine with each other causing different interference that a Parkinson’s patient could easily live without.

Although not many people are aware of this, your diet and dietary habits can contribute a great deal to your Parkinson’s symptoms. Organic fruits and vegetables are very beneficial foods to eat as they contribute a great deal to the Vitamin E intake. As a matter of fact I suggest that 75 percent of your diet should consist of raw foods. Foods and beverages such as caffeine, sugar and processed foods on the other hand, greatly enhance your already painful Parkinson’s symptoms. This knowledge alone can make quite a difference in the symptoms you experience on a day to day basis.

When it comes to herbal remedies, Lady’s Slipper is great when it comes to controlling the tremors. Taken 3-4 times daily for maximum effectiveness is the best way to achieve the results you are looking for. Skullcap is another herb, which when combined with Lady’s Slipper can help strengthen the brain against the unwanted attacks of Parkinson’s. By choosing to combine some of the most effective Parkinson’s related herbs, you can strengthen your brain and body against the many unexpected attacks Parkinson’s can bring.

Parkinson’s is a disease which can remain the same for many years and never advance or decline for many people. For some people it can be a disease which escalates to its highest potential within just a few short years and these are the people who take matters into their own hands and take advantage of the successful herbal remedies.

The two herbal remedies listed above are the most popular and so far the most effective when it comes to controlling Parkinson’s in the best way possible. I also encourage you to learn about more natural alternatives to treat Parkinson's Disease by reading my article titled, “Nutritional Supplements Can Help Slow Progression of Parkinson's Disease”.

You can also try drinking Yellow dock tea, which will detoxify the liver and cleanse the blood. Another herb to consider is Ginkgo as it has the ability to repair brain damage due to toxic chemicals but if you're taking blood-thinning medication, you should avoid Ginkgo.

Last but certainly not least, let's not forget about good old exercise, which can dramatically improve symptoms associated with this brain disorder.

If you have recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s and are looking to avoid taking prescription drugs for the rest of your life, it may be time to find a trusting alternative health professional for advice in how to proceed safely.

I hope this information was helpful to you. I wish you the very best of health.
