There are certain types of fungi, which have the ability to affect your skin and mucus membranes throughout the body. These types of fungi are generally known as candida and tinea. They can grow under your fingernails, toe nails, between your toes or even on internal surfaces such as your colon or other organs. Fungal infections are most common on areas of the skin that are for the most part consistently moist and are constantly in contact with another area of skin, a great example of this is between your toes. It is important to note that moist, itchy and red patches of skin anywhere on the body could be a sign of a particular fungus infection.

Fungal infections of the mouth are quite common and signs of this include white and creamy patches that form on the tongue and the mucus membranes. Attempting to scrape these growths off your tongue can result in bleeding. This condition is most popular in babies and anyone who has a weak or compromised immune system for any reason. The second most common fungal infection is of course under the fingernails, toenails or between the toes. You will want to look for discoloration in the nails or nails may become raised from the finger or toe. These are sure signs of a fungal infection and should not be ignored.

Reoccurring fungal infections is a sign of a weakened or defected immune system. People who are at a higher risk of fungal infections include people who suffer from diabetes, cancer, HIV or people taking antibiotics for long periods of time. With this being said, there are a number of different natural alternatives to prescription medications that have been proven to be more effective and less damaging to your body.

  • Garlic is a natural antibiotic and when taken twice daily, it has the ability to neutralize almost any fungi in the body. Use Kyolic by Wakunga of America, which is a powerful organic garlic supplement.

  • Acidophilus is a friendly, natural bacteria that many people are in deficiency of if they are suffering from a fungal infection of any kind.

  • Vitamin B complex should be used to help balance the bacteria in your body and prevent the spreading of fungi to more serious locations such as internal organs.

  • Vitamin C with bioflavonoids is of course needed for proper immune system function and should be taken in divided dosages of 5,000-20,000 mg daily.

  • Berberine is an antifungal herb that works against a variety of different fungi including Candida. This herb can also work as an anti-inflammatory to help reduce the pain that can be related to a fungal infection.

  • Kolorex is an herbal product that has been shown to work strongly against fungal infections like Tinea and ringworm.

  • Tea Tree Oil is a natural herb that should be used for external treatment only. This is a great ointment for those suffering from toe fungus or fingernail fungus.

  • Infected nails should be soaked in a mixture of goldenseal and pau d' arco as these herbs hold strong anti-fungal properties.

  • Refined sugars such as soda should be eliminated from the diet as fungi thrive on sugar.

Any one or a combination of these supplements can greatly aid in the quick healing and prevention of fungal infections throughout your body. You want to take control at the first signs of a fungal infection so you are not experiencing them over and over again, as this can greatly harm your immune system.
