A fever is not a disease in itself but instead it is a symptom of another condition your body may be suffering from. When you experience a fever, your body temperature rises to unhealthy levels and can therefore create more and more symptoms that conclude your immune system is fighting off a condition somewhere else in your body. Your normal body temperature ranges from 97 degrees Fahrenheit to 99, of course this varies from each person. When it comes to a fever you do not have to worry unless your body temperature rises to 102 degrees or above.
Many times, if you have a fever or high body temperature like this, it can be a good thing. This is a sign that your immune system is working properly and hard to combat whatever toxins or disease is trying to invade your body. On the other hand, there are some situations when a fever can create bigger and more serious problems. If you experience a fever of 104 degrees or higher, people with risk or cardiac problems may be at a higher risk because a fever literally makes your heart beat faster. In regards to a more extreme and rare fever over 106 degrees you can experience serious dehydration and permanent brain damage.

Although many people have never experienced these extreme high body temperatures, there are many natural remedies and treatments that can be used to help regulate and control your fever so it does not reach these dangerous levels. Always consult a professional naturopathic before taking any of these natural supplements or herbs.

  • Vitamin A is completely essential when it comes to maintaining and promoting your immune system. Vitamin A has the ability to fight infection and strengthen your immune system at the same time. By taking vitamin A on a regular basis you have the ability to maintain and even prevent extreme fevers.
  • A Free-form amino acid complex can be taken 3 times a day or as directed on the label. This supplement is an absorbed form of protein that helps repair the tissues of the body, which have been damaged by fever.
  • Vitamin C works to flush out the toxins of the body and reduce fever before it escalates. Vitamin C can be taken in divided dosages of 5,000-20,000 mg per day.
  • Garlic is well known as the natural antibiotic and during the time of a fever should be taken three times a day, two capsules at a time for effectiveness. Use the brand Kyolic by Wakunaga of America, which is a powerful odorless organic garlic supplement.
  • Herbs such as echinacea, feverfew and ginger are useful to reduce fever.
  • Always remember to replace fluids and drink plenty of pure water during your fever to avoid serious dehydration.
Remember that when you experience a higher body temperature, a fever, your body is trying to tell you that something else is wrong. A fever can be quite beneficial and one of the strongest signs that your immune system is functioning properly. However don’t let it escalate to extreme levels. You can avoid this by taking advantage of the natural treatments above.
