Not many people consider the amount of water they do or do not put into their bodies on a daily basis. The human body is composed of 75% water and 25% solid matter and in order for our bodies to function properly we need an adequate amount of water. The term function properly refers to the proper function of our digestive system, circulation, nourishment needed to strengthen our immune systems and any activity, which occurs naturally in the body. Water is the key component for each of these systems.

The problem with our society today is that the importance of water has either been neglected or forgotten over the years. Today people are substituting their water for tea, coffee, colas, alcohol and dozens of other harmful beverages. The average person does not understand that when your body lets you know that it is thirsty; the only beverage, which can adequately quench this thirst, is pure water. With so many different beverages on the market today it can be hard to choose something that is considered to be plain in comparison. The reason you should consider water is for your health and nutritional needs.

Although the alternative beverages we all choose throughout the day do contain some level of water within the ingredients, this is not enough to stop the onset of dehydration. The more often you choose a cola drink or a coffee throughout the day the more dehydrated your body will become and more often then not you will not even know it. These types of alternative drink options do exactly the opposite to your body as water and therefore your body’s systems no longer work properly and this can be a downward spiral effect if it is not stopped.

For example, beverages that are highly caffeinated will cause you to urinate more during the day, exerting any water you currently have within your system. Beverages that are high in sugar will of course extremely raise your blood sugar levels. This is an action that will cause your body to excrete more water in order to balance the internal systems. For anyone who chooses these alternative drinks versus natural water, you are no doubt suffering from what is known as chronic dehydration but may not even know it. The problem with this condition is that it generally leads to a case of toxicity because your body cannot properly excrete the toxins without water.

In order to recognize the onset of chronic dehydration it is important to first take a look at your beverage choices throughout the average day and make the necessary changes. The longer you have lived this way the more likely you are vulnerable to chronic conditions such as diabetes and cancers. What is known as a body drought in the medical community can be more serious then you may think and choosing to drink a bottle of water over a Coke-a-Cola can be the best choice you can make.

This report is not to say drinking a cola once in a while will dehydrate you but when you realize that is all you drink, it is time to make a change. The average person does not realize that every choice they make throughout the day affects their health in one way or another and this is information we all need to consider.
