As the body ages you may experience flat brown spots throughout different areas of your body, which can also be referred to as liver spots. You will find that the most common areas prone to age spots are the neck, face and hands. Many times these age spots are completely harmless but there are rare occasions when they can be a sign for a more serious underlying problem. Age spots are quite literally a sign from your body telling you that your cells are full of a type of accumulated waste that is slowly destroying your different cells. This type of radical intoxication can infect more internal areas of the body that can include your heart muscles and retina.

There are many different factors that can lead to the appearance of age spots which can include a poor diet; lack of exercise, smoking and poor liver function. There are some very important nutritional supplements and recommendations you can take in order to prevent the appearance of age spots for your own future years. Vitamin B complex is a very effective and common supplement that is required for many older adults to help proper assimilation between different nutrients in the body, this can be the key to preventing age spots.

Zinc is a powerful immune system stimulant which is needed to fight and prevent all skin disorders. By taking 80 mg a day, divided throughout the day in supplements you can take a strong fight against age spots. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which eliminates free radicals and repairs skin tissue as well. Vitamin C can be obtained throughout your diet or through supplements, with a daily dosage of no less than 3,000-6,000mg. By eating a high diet of raw foods such as fruits and vegetables can add the necessary nutrients required to maintain healthy skin.

If you have an abundance of age spots that are bothering or worrying you, you also have the option to freeze them off. Conventional medical treatment of age spots consists of a physician freezing them off, which is usually very effective and most times they do not come back. This is also a fairly painless experience that takes just a few minutes of your day.

Although it may seem like a good idea, do not use cleansing creams on your aging spots. It is a better idea to cleanse your skin with pure olive oil and a warm clothe and then rinse with lemon juice. This will not aggravate the skin and has the healing properties within it to help clear your aging spots.

Take these great remedies and recommendations into consideration to help heal and prevent your age spots and even remove those which already exist. Age spots do not have to define you as you get older and many people can prevent them before they occur by actively taking charge of their skin’s health early on in life.
