Here’s a question for you. What’s over 2,000 years old, can help you lose weight, is all natural and can aid in innumerable methods of bodily restoration? If you guessed acupuncture, you guessed it right.

Acupuncture is the primary answer to many people’s problems. By definition, it is described as a procedure used in or adapted from Chinese medical practice in which specific body areas are pierced with fine needles for therapeutic purposes or to relieve pain or produce regional anesthesia.

This procedure can be applied to remedy or treat hundred’s of ailments and or conditions such as:

  • Carpal Tunnel

  • Morning Sickness

  • Athletic Injuries

  • Earache

  • Depression

  • Skin Disorders

  • Fertility Issues

  • Stress Reduction

  • Pain Relief

  • Asthma

I have chosen to speak specifically about three conditions that many people can treat using this ancient method.. Most times, when I choose to write about a specific condition or conditions it’s usually because the condition is evident in many people, the condition has affected someone close to me or I am in search of an alternative, effective treatment for the condition. In this case, all three reasons apply to all of the three conditions.

The first condition that I feel many American’s can treat with acupuncture is obesity. The primary method in which acupuncture promotes weight loss is by releasing endorphins in the body. It’s a well known fact that overeating or formidable eating habits are many times related to the mind and negative emotions. The theory here is that by creating positive emotions through the release of endorphin’s one will incur better eating habits.

Another popular method of applying acupuncture to result in weight loss begins with a number of questions asked by the acupuncturist to the person having the procedure performed on them. Basically, through questioning, the acupuncturist is able to determine whether the poor eating habits are the result of issues related to the person either physically or mentally. Once that has been determined the acupuncturist will then place small needles in the corresponding parts the person’s body, which will cause the body or mind to respond through chemical release, in a manner that will promote weight loss.

Did you know that acupuncture can also be used to lower blood pressure? Through a unique method of fusing acupuncture with electrical stimulation one’s blood pressure can be lowered by almost 50% according to researchers at the Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine at UC Irvine. In one particular study, the Longhurst team applied acupuncture to test rats with artificially elevated blood pressure rates but found that acupuncture alone had no effect on blood pressure. Electrical stimulation was then added to the acupuncture treatment by running an electrical current through the needles. During this process, low frequencies of current lowered increased blood pressure by as much as 40 to 50 percent.

Do you suffer from severe headaches? Consider Acupuncture as an alternative and chuck the pills in the garbage where they belong. Researchers have discovered acupuncture to be a pragmatic and effective form of treatment for people who suffer from chronic or migraine headaches.

Studies have indicated acupuncture to be more effective in reducing headache pain than conventional treatments alone. Plus, frequent acupuncture treatment has been shown to result in fewer headaches. There is also evidence that acupuncture decreases the severity and frequency of headaches in some people.

Remember, in your quest achieve optimal heath naturally, always keep acupuncture as an option for the treatment of any ailments or unwanted conditions that may be plaguing you. Whether you’re trying to shed some extra pounds, lower your blood pressure or relieve that pounding headache, a great alternative treatment is acupuncture.
