Symptoms of tonsillitis vary from person to person. But for the most part, a person infected may experience: - A Very Sore Throat - Fever - Abnormally Red Tonsils - Chills - A Yellow or White Coating on the Tonsils - A Scratchy Voice - Swollen Glands in the Neck - Bad Breath - Headache - Nausea Tonsillitis is very common in children but it can occur in adults of any age as well. Since the tonsils are constantly acting as a "germ-net", they sometimes can become overwhelmed with germs or bacteria and the result is tonsillitis. Different types of viruses and bacteria such as the virus that causes mononucleosis (the Epstein-Barr virus) and the bacterium that causes strep throat (Streptococcus pyogenes) can cause tonsillitis. The length of illness usually depends on which virus is causing it. In most cases, people are almost completely recovered within 1 week. Here’s my simple plan to treat tonsillitis naturally: 1.) See a professional healthcare practitioner to get a proper diagnosis. 2.) Once diagnosed, thank him or her for their time and head for the door before they start writing a prescription for some chemical ridden drug with side effects. (Be sure to pay your bill on your way out). 3.) Make your way to the nearest health food store and pick up some natural supplements including: Vitamin C with Bioflavonoids (5,000-20,000 mg daily) - This will combat infection and elevate the immune response. Zinc Lozenges (One 15 mg lozenge every 2-3 waking hours for 3 days. Then reduce to 1 lozenge 4 times a day until infection is healed) - this immunostimulant aids in healing. Chlorophyll (use as a gargle as directed on label) - This has an antibiotic effect and can heal irritations in the mouth & throat. Cod Liver Oil (take as directed on label) - This will aid immune response & heal tissue. Vitamin C (3,000 - 5,000 mg) - A powerful antioxidant, which builds resistance to infection. Maitake or shiitake or reishi extract (take as directed on label) - These mushrooms boost the immune system and have antiviral properties. Acidophilus (As directed on label) - Necessary is antibiotics are used. I also highly recommend Echinacea, which fights infection and boosts the immune system. Make Echinacea tea and drink as much as you can. Flaxseed oil reduces pain and inflammation so you may want to take some as well.
