Worms are quite literally parasites that form and live within
the gastrointestinal tract of the body. There are many different
types of worms that can sustain life within the human body, but the
most common are referred to as roundworms. This category of worms
includes ascarids, hookworms, pinworms, threadworms and tapeworms.
Roundworms are quite contagious and are shaped in the same way as an
earth worm but smaller; they can easily be spotted by the human eye
through physical examinations of many different kinds. In the USA
today, pinworm |
infestation within children is by far the most prominent of all worm cases.
There are a lot of factors that determine just how serious your worm
infestation is and what symptoms you may experience. Some people may
experience no symptoms at all to notify them of this condition and in other
cases, these worms may exit the body through the stools if there is a great
infestation. Pinworms can cause constant and extreme anal itching, insomnia
and restlessness. Hookworms on the other hand can cause itchy feet, fever,
rash and loss of appetite. Threadworms can create symptoms that include
coughing, abdominal pain, gas or diarrhea. Small tapeworms have the ability
to cause weight loss, loss of appetite, vomiting and abdominal pain. Lastly,
large tapeworms cause similar symptoms to small tapeworms, but without the
weight loss factor.
Worm infestations can be anywhere from mild to severe to life threatening,
especially in children today. This type of infestation can cause your body
not to absorb the proper nutrients it needs and even experience internal
bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract. Malabsorption that is created by a
worm infestation can make you susceptible to many different conditions and
diseases because of how weak your immune system becomes. It can be hard for
many people to believe just how common worm and parasite infestations are
within the body, but often times they are the root problem that creates
colon disorders and other serious conditions.
